The Adopted Core Strategy designates 900 hectares for employment uses to develop the South Humber Bank as a global gateway for the north of England. The South Humber Bank employment area is currently occupied by large oil, gas and electricity companies, riverside terminal facilities, and associated activities including storage, processing and distribution. It is well sited adjacent to the highway network and can be accessed via Junction 4 of the M180 without the need of travelling through the town. Scunthorpe currently lacks a high quality business park and it is considered that this location offers the quality environment and access opportunities demanded by such a development.
